Uniting host and scientific software in a single interface allows users from varied backgrounds to assemble professional quality visuals and to perform computational experiments with relative ease. The combination provides: • High quality rendering with shadows, camera effects, global illumination, ambient occlusion, etc. • Intuitive GUI workflows that help users set up animations ranging from easy turntable rotations to sophisticated mechanism of action movies • Subcelluar modeling that allows users to illustrate or animate complex cell events in molecular detail by positioning objects with intuitive controls • A common Python Platform that allows users to initiate sophisticated algorithms like molecular dynamics or docking energy calculations on the fly and to interoperate multiple algorithms at the same time on the same model By enabling easy exchange of algorithms, ePMV can facilitate interdisciplinary research, smooth communication between broadly diverse specialties and provide a common platform to frame and visualize the increasingly detailed intersection(s) of cellular and molecular biology. ePMV is free and the ePMV plugin currently supports: • Cinema4D r12, r13, r14™ • Blender 2.49, 2.58, 2.60, 2.6.2, 2.6.8a • Autodesk Maya 2011, 2012, 2013™ • Autodesk 3ds Max 2013, 2014™ With the help of developers like you, this list can easily extend to include Houdini, Lightwave, SoftImage, Modo, and many others... Please acknowledge the use of the ePMV software that results in any published work, including scientific papers, textbooks, covers, animations, slides, etc. with this citation . Please visit the install page to reinstall the software if you have updated your host software to one of these versions. Please let us know if you encounter issues so we can debug them ASAP. Good news for Max users, the Extension pack is no longer required because Python is now included in the 2015 edition. Thank you 3dsMax 2015 64bits support specificsWe have just released an installer and an archive for the manual installation of the uPy Suite for the latest 3dsMax software v2015. This version offers more of the functionality that ePMV and autoPACK offer in the other supported hosts thanks to ... Posted Mar 18, 2015, 2:19 PM by Graham Johnson ePMV rendered structures in Nature article Although medical and scientific illustrators (our biggest user group) use ePMV to create complex illustrations and animations that typically convey structure in the broader context of the cell, Park et al have used ePMV for a classic structure comparison in their 2015 article in Nature: Agrochemical control of plant water use using engineered abscisic acid receptors . http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/vaop/ncurrent/fig_tab/nature14123_F2.htmlOur 2011 article about ePMV in the journal Structure demonstrated this type of use, so we appreciate the authors' application, which combined ePMV with the capabilities of Cinema 4D and interior mesh models exported from PyMol. We further appreciate the citation for this type of use. Posted Mar 16, 2015, 8:22 PM by Graham Johnson Showing posts 1 - 3 of 42 .
